“I would highly recommend this full day hike up in to the mountains even on a hot Saturday in September!. The national park is beautiful with breathtaking views from the top. We were very lucky as we had Bogdan as our guide. He is very enthusiastic, energetic and experienced with lots of tales to tell. Remember to take walking poles. They are invaluable on the way back down!”

2.Private Hiking OR Climbing Experience in beaufitul gorges

★★★★★★★★★★5.0 · 50 reviews · from $78

Spend about five hours exploring Cheile Turzii with a small group and guides such as Tudor, Julia, Marian, or Andrei. Choose a guided hike or a via ferrata route with cables, ladders, bridges, and zip wires. No technical climbing background is required, but you should be comfortable with heights and in good physical shape.

“The gorge is.... gorgeous. It's not unfair to compare it to utopia. Andrei work me so hard hiking up steep hills and slippery slopes for 2 hours...no regrets. I will do it all over again. I am also constantly being fed information about the history.”

3.Hike to Poenari Fortress, Vidraru Dam, Argeș Monastery – Private

★★★★★★★★★★5.0 · 26 reviews · 10 hours (approx.) · from $167

Travel from Bucharest by private, air-conditioned vehicle to Curtea de Argeș Monastery, Poenari Fortress and Vidraru Dam. Hear the Vlad the Impaler connection, take in Carpathian views and enjoy door-to-door pickup with an English-speaking guide such as Bogdan or Victor. The fortress climb is strenuous, and entry costs 30 RON extra.

“This tour wasn’t part of our original plan, but with almost everything closed in Bucharest for Easter, we decided to book it last minute – and it turned out to be a fantastic choice. The nature was absolutely stunning, and spotting the bears was an unforgettable experience! Even though the Poenari Fortress was closed, our guide adjusted the route, taking us into the mountains instead, where we enjoyed some beautiful views. It felt like a real adventure, and we came back with amazing photos and memories.”
