The tour itself was perfect, our guide spoke pretty decent English and gave us information on the main spots to see. There are women who come with you selling goods but they are quite friendly and do help you along the path. Check weather before going too as ours was quite rainy/muddy but became more sunny as the day progressed.”

She kept the trek at a good pace for us, keeping us well informed of our itinerary, i.e. what time we would arrive at each place, when our bags would be dropped off, what time meals would be with our Homestays etc. She was also very friendly and personable. Although we experienced some rainy misty weather, we still had some stunning views and it fined up on the last day. The Homestays were a great standard - better than our expectations and…”

“Arriving at Fansipan peak at sunrise with no one else around made this activity a priceless for us. Watching the sun rise above a cloud bathed valley was quite an experience. The trip was well organised and the food was first class in very rustic conditions. This trip is not for everyone as the hike is very steep and long; over boulders, steps and ladders and the accomodation is very basic. The night temperature fell to zero degrees and the sleeping bags were not equipped to cope with this. Blankets would have helped. Our guide and especially our porter were very helpful but neither spoke English so their input to…”

This private 5.5-hour trek leads you from Sapa through Y Linh Ho, Lao Chai, and Ta Van, home to Black Hmong and Giay communities. Guides such as May Pham, Choo, and Mrs. Du explain local customs, adjust the pace, and provide lunch, water, rain protection, and a ride back to Sapa. Expect superb views, village paths, and some persistent souvenir sellers.
