1.Skagway Shore Excursion Chilkoot Trail Hike and Float Tour

★★★★★★★★★★5.0 · 513 reviews · 4 hours (approx.) · from $145Our pick

Trade Skagway’s busy waterfront for a rainforest hike and gentle Taiya River float. You’ll climb uneven trail, learn about plants and the Klondike Gold Rush, then watch for eagles, otters, bears, and salmon. Guides such as Owen, Dominic, Danny, Rachel, and Shaggy lead groups capped at 11.

“The first half of the 2 Mile hike is arduous but can be done with a decent level of fitness. Dom., our guide was very knowledgeable and courteous. We learned about many different varieties of mushrooms, berries and other plant life in the rainforest. The raft float back to the starting point was fun and we saw eagles and other wildlife.”

★★★★★★★★★★4.5 · 123 reviews · 4 hours · from $146

Meet your English-speaking guide beside Olden’s cruise pier, ride through Olden Valley, then walk 45 to 60 minutes toward Briksdal Glacier. Expect a moderate uphill route, waterfalls, meltwater streams, and wide views over Olden Lake. Guides such as Sam, Anna, Alyssa, and Elisabet have led past departures, but your guide will vary.

“the scenery was BREATHTAKING. definitely worth your time. there is an option to be taken up in a buggy if you're not able to do the hike (not too strenuous, just a little steep at times). you will still have to walk the last 500m if you take the buggy. if you hike you will have wonderful views the whole time though”
